This weekend saw the thumping victory of M-Sport’s Ford in the WRC coming 1st, 3rd and 6th at the Monte Carlo Rally. Sebastien Ogier has seamlessly proved his worth after moving from VW to M-Sport and immediately taking top spot on the podium. So whilst the weather may be looking decidedly wintry and temperatures plummet in the UK, the rallying season is already hotting up. The next WRC rally is likely to be snow-covered as its hosted at Torsby, Sweden from the 9th till 12th February, 2017 and temperatures are often seen at -25°c. Drivers will be using studded tyres which means the surface gets ripped up shooting frozen bullets in all directions. KAYLAN high impact resistant underbody sheeting really can save a team from disaster on this punishing winter stage.
Those brave enough to stand out in the sub-zero temperatures should head for Colin’s Crest to see if anyone can beat the 2016 record-breaking jump of 45 metres set by Eyvind Brynildsen last year.
If that sounds a little too chilly for you then there’s plenty of rally action closer to home this weekend. This weekend sees the New Year Stages at Kirkistown, Northern Ireland on Saturday the 28th January 2017. This year’s rally will have a night stage. Full regs and entry can be found on the Ulster Autormobile Club’s website. The BREAN STAGES RALLY will also be held over the weekend at Brean Leisure Park, Weston-Super-Mare. Entry is now full but do get along there to see the action. Entry is just 5 pounds with kids under 12 getting in free. Be sure to get any mudflap orders in now.
